Our Sunday School leader orientation is a five-part video training where you will discover the purpose and goals of Sunday School. Every teacher will walk away knowing:
Who we are as a church and where Sunday School fits within our strategy to make disciples.
Why Sunday School is vital to spiritual growth.
What we do in every Sunday School environment.
How we accomplish the goals of Sunday School (belong, believe, and become).
What is required and expected of every leader and group.
Each training session consists of a quick video and some meaningful questions to help you think through how you will lead (or are currently leading) your class. Though you will start with session one, feel free to work through the sessions at your own pace. All sessions don’t have to be completed at one time. Simply come back to this page and pick up with the next video.

Session 1: Who We Are
(7 min) Mission, Strategy, and Values
In this session, you’ll learn all about who we are as a church. We will discuss our mission, strategy and values. This session will help you understand the overall direction of FBCS and how our small group ministry is designed to make disciples of Jesus.
Session 2: Why We Do It
(9 min) Small Groups = Spiritual Growth
In this session, you will discover why relationships are the best context for spiritual growth and why they’re so important to God. This session will help you understand the important role every Sunday School teacher has in making disciples of Jesus.
Session 3: What We Do
(9 min) The Purpose & Goals of Small Groups
In this session, you will learn the purpose of the small group ministry of FBCS. As the importance of Sunday School becomes more clear, you will encounter the three main goals of every small group environment.
Session 4: How We Do It
(13 min) Belong, Believe, Become
In this session, we will break down each of the three primary goals of Sunday School. This will include the primary components required for each goal. This session will also guide each teacher to ask challenging questions to ensure each goal is being accomplished.
Session 5: Expectations
(6 min) Leader & Group Expectations
In this final session, we will discuss the qualifications and expectations of every small group leader. We will also share several group expectations to ensure each group is healthy and growing.
New Sunday School Teachers
If you’re a new Sunday School teacher and you’ve completed every training session, a pastor will contact you. Your nexts steps will include finalizing details such as curriculum, class roster, location, and more.
