Children’s Ministry Director

Job Title:  Children’s Ministry Director       
Employee Status: Full Time                
Reports to:  Lead Pastor

Primary Function:

The Children’s Ministry Director should effectively lead birth-5th grade children and their families to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

Requirements:

•      Maintain a growing relationship with Christ.

•      Have a passion and vision for spiritual outreach and discipleship of children and their families.

•      Willingness to learn, to grow, to follow, and to be held accountable.

•      Desire to work as a team by relating to and working with others.

•      Have a calling from God and experience in children’s ministry.

•      Self-motivated and organized to create and implement ideas, programs, and experiences.

•      Listen effectively and communicate clearly, both orally and written.

•      Attend weekly staff meetings and maintain office hours set by the Lead Pastor.

 

Responsibilities:

SHEPHERD

•      Teach children on a weekly basis in Kids’ Worship and mid-week settings.

•      Develop weekly programming for Sunday and Wednesday worship opportunities for children.

•      Maintain effective follow-up strategies with members and guests.

•      Provide care to children and families in times of spiritual, emotional, or physical need.

LEADER

•      Recruit, train, lead, and evaluate volunteer leaders.

•      Oversee organization, administration, and supervision of all aspects of the Children’s Ministry.

•      Maintain communication with staff, other ministries at FBCS, and the congregation about the Children’s Ministry.

•      Oversee the budget of the Children’s Ministry.

•      Lead the Preschool and Children’s Committees for active service within the ministries.

•      Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

CREATIVE

•      Develop a disciple-making strategy for the Children’s Ministry in concert with FBCS.

•      Develop and implement monthly and yearly activities for the ongoing spiritual growth of children and their families.

•      Seek opportunities to serve the local community and schools.

•      Discover and empower children and adults to use their spiritual gifts.

 

Key Programming:

•      Sundays — Sunday School, Kids’ Worship, and extended session.

•      Wednesdays — mid-week worship opportunities for preschool and children.

•      Additional — monthly activities, summer camps (preschool and children), and VBS
