The Purpose of EvangelismEvangelism is
simply sharing the good new of Jesus Christ with those who do not have a
personal relationship with him. Even though God is the one who
changes their heart and saves them He has commanded us to be his
witnesses (Acts 1:8).
One reason
students do not grow beyond a certain level spiritually is because they
are not being obedient in sharing their faith with others. Many times
students are excited about sharing their faith but they do not know
how. The adult leadership must not only teach how to evangelize the
lost but also be a good example of carrying out the great commission.
The Purpose of WorshipWe usually define
worship as the singing that takes place right before the sermon,
however, in Romans 12:1 is tells us to, "Offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of
worship."
Within the FBC Student Ministry
we need to create an atmosphere that is constantly encouraging our
students to be pure and holy before the Lord. Their commitment to
holiness is essentially their act of Worship. The joy and excitement
that comes with praising Jesus through music is a fruit of purity and
holiness. We must consistently and accurately divide the Word of God,
and lay before them the truth and the power of God’s Word. Our Student Ministry desires
to see each student’s life transformed into the likeness of Christ, and
this can only occur through a proper view of God is and what He wants
us to become.
The Purpose of FellowshipWhen students
enter into a personal relationship with Jesus they become a child of God
and they are automatically adopted into a huge family of Christian
brothers and sisters all over the world. Eph. 2:19 says,
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow
citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household." As
Christians we desperately need the fellowship of other brothers and
sisters in Christ. Through these relationships we are known, cared
for, held accountable, and encouraged in our spiritual journey. This
can only happen in a local New Testament Church. It is imperative that
a new believer be engrafted into the total Church Family not
just the Youth Ministry. Hebrews 13 clearly states that believers are
not to forsake the fellowship of other believers.
The Purpose of DiscipleshipSimply stated
Discipleship is when a believer commits to self discipline him or
herself to be like Christ. Discipleship takes place when a believer
submits and becomes accountable to the Word of God. The Word of God
becomes a Chisel in the hand of the Creator to transform the life of a
believer. The believer matures through personal meditation in the Word
of God and through other believers teaching truths from the Word of
God. It is God’s desire for us to grow and mature and not be content
to be infants in our faith. Hebrews 6:1 commands us to "Let us leave
the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity." In the FBC
Student Ministry discipleship takes place in Bible Fellowship Groups, Worship
Services, Breakaway, Discipleship Classes, Retreats, Camps, etc.
The Purpose of MinistryIn the Great
Commandments Jesus clearly commanded us to Love One Another. He has
given each believer gifts and talents in order for us to carry out this
commandment. Within the Youth Ministry we need to help each Youth
believer discover their Spiritual Gifts and use them to meet the needs
of others. It is important that we teach students that these spiritual
gifts are to be used now not when they get older.
FBC Student Ministry Purpose StatementThe FBC Student
Ministry exists to: bring students to the saving knowledge of Jesus
Christ, engraft them into the church family, disciple and mature them in
their faith, to challenge them to discover and use their gifts in areas
of ministry, and for them to glorify God with their life by having a
passionate, transparent & growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
