In recent years, FBCS has been growing in our response to
the call to missions. Jesus commanded us to not only love Him but also to love
others. We love others best when we introduce them to a relationship with Jesus
Christ. Below are some answers to some very important questions about missions
at FBC Saltillo:
Q: How does FBCS accomplish a mission focus?
A: We take our strategy from Jesus’ teaching in Acts
1:8 (“But you will receive power when
the Holy Spirit comes on you. And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.)
Jerusalem
– The city and region of Saltillo
Judea
– Our state and nearby states
Samaria
– Other areas of the United States
The
ends of the earth – Other nations needing the Gospel
Q: What types of mission opportunities has FBCS been
involved in?
A: We have helped serve our “Jerusalem” by doing clothing
giveaways, our food pantry, housing projects, evangelistic events, etc. We have
served our “Judea” by helping restore the Gulf Coast after hurricane Katrina.
We have served our “Samaria” by partnering with churches in Wyoming and Colorado to help
them renovate their facilities and partner with them to reach their area. We
have served “the ends of the earth” by a few foreign mission trips (Romania,
Belize, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo).
Q: Why are we doing this?
A: We believe that the Gospel can transform the life of any
man, woman, and child by introducing them into a personal and eternal
relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior of all mankind. We believe that
those who die without a relationship with Christ will spend eternity in hell
separated from Him and those who receive Christ will spend eternity in heaven
with Him.
Q: How can I be a part and help?
A: God has given each of us three ways to be involved.
First, you can pray for God’s leadership and guidance. Second, you can go. Make
the investment in eternity to go on a local or foreign mission trip. Third, you
can give. Mission trips are costly and your generosity can help send someone to
spread the hope of the Gospel to others who need it. You may give in person at
our church location or you can give online. Click here to give online to give to the FBCS Mission Fund.
